That horrible feeling again!

As an all or nothing type of guy, I remember vividly celebrating my victories and barely surviving my many failures. I had little status-quo in my career that allowed me to coast and relax. And while a worked diligently in securing as many victories as possible, I can openly confess that for a whIle, I was not a person who knew how to lose gracefully. Quite the contrary.

One year was particularly challenging for me. It was my second year in the sales industry, and I had come out of a solid first year that had landed me a considerable bonus and a place on the leadership team. I had just been on cloud nine when that horrible feeling came to haunt me. I remember waking up in the middle of the night, in a cold sweat, wondering how I was going to feed my family and whether or not I should find another place of employment or another career altogether.

How had I ended up there?  One minute basking in glory and the next laying in the gutter of poverty, what happened?
